1.Selecting the Right Nut

Having the right avocado nut is the first step when it comes to growing an avocado tree from a nut. It’s important to select an avocado nut that has not been dried out. When selecting, look for a nut that is dark green in color and slightly squishy to the touch, as this indicates maturity. The nut should also feel slightly heavy for its size. It’s also important to make sure that the nut is not cracked open, as this could possibly indicate that the nut is bad.

2.Soaking the Nut

Once you have selected an appropriate nut, the next step is to soak it in water. Make sure the entire nut is completely submerged in the water. Experts suggest leaving the nut in the water for up to 24 hours, but it’s important to keep an eye on the water level to make sure the nut stays submerged. During this time, the nut will expand and any remaining seeds inside of it may separate from the flesh.

3.Planting the Nut

Once the nut has been soaked it’s time to plant it. Experts suggest using a pot that is at least 8 inches wide and 12 inches deep, and is filled with good quality soil. Plant the nut so that one-half of it is above the soil and the other half is below. To protect the nut from pests or critters, use a thin layer of sand to cover the top.

4.Watering the soil

Watering the pot of soil is necessary to ensure the proper growth of the avocado tree. Make sure to water the pot every few days and check the soil for dryness. If the soil is dry, add a small amount of water. It’s also important to not over water the pot, as too much water can lead to root rot.

5.Positioning the pot
