Is cashew a tree nut allergy? <\/h2>\n

Tree nut allergies are among the most common food allergies in both children and adults. The six tree nut allergies most commonly reported by children and adults are allergies to walnut, almond, hazelnut, pecan, cashew and pistachio. Allergies to these tree nuts can cause a range of symptoms, from mild (such as itching and hives) to severe (such as difficulty breathing and anaphylaxis). If you have a tree nut allergy, it’s important to avoid all tree nuts and products that may contain them.<\/p>\n

Nuts are classified as either true nuts or drupes. True nuts, like acorns and chestnuts, are not fleshy on the outside and do not have a shell covering the seed on the inside. Drupes, like cashews, almonds, and pistachios, are fruits that are fleshy on the outside and have a shell enclosing the seed on the inside. What we consume of the drupe is the seed.<\/p>\n
